Alfresco Intelligent Professional 14" Built-In Double Side Burner AIPGSB-2

The AIPGSB-2 is the side burner Alfresco built to match its Intelligent Professional grills. Two burners put out a combined 40,000 BTUH under a recessed, wind-shielded top, and the knobs carry the same LumaTouch™ lighting as the AIPG grill beside it — so the burner station reads as part of the grill rather than as an afterthought dropped into the counter. It installs as a built-in unit in an outdoor kitchen island, or mounts to an Alfresco cart grill in place of the side shelf.

Before the island gets cut: about the cutout dimensions

You will notice there is no cutout measurement in the list above. That is deliberate. Alfresco publishes a spec sheet for the previous-generation AXESB-2 burner but has not released one for the AIPGSB-2, and a countertop cut to a number carried over from a different model is an expensive mistake to make in stone.

Call us at 843-212-7209 and we will pull the current AIPGSB-2 cutout drawing from Alfresco for your fuel type and finish before your fabricator templates the counter.

What the manufacturer does specify: keep 3" of clearance from the sides and 3" from the back to any combustible construction. If the burner sits under overhead combustible construction, a UL-710 or ULC-S646 approved heavy-duty vent hood is required.

AIPGSB-2 or AXESB-2 — which side burner do you actually need?

Both are 40,000 BTU Alfresco double side burners, both are commercial stainless steel with heli-arc welded seams, and both drop into an island cutout. The difference is the control package and the price.

The AXESB-2 is the long-running AXE-series burner, with control knob accent lights matched to the AXE and ALXE grill lines. The AIPGSB-2 is the Intelligent Professional version: LumaTouch™ precision control with knob lighting that matches an AIPG grill's control panel.

If your grill is an AIPG, buy the AIPGSB-2 — the controls and lighting line up. If your grill is an ALXE or AXE, or the burner is going in on its own, the AXESB-2 cooks identically for less.

Two pot burners, a sear burner, or a power burner?

The AIPGSB-2 is a pot-and-pan station. Two independently controlled burners mean a sauce can hold at a simmer while a stockpot runs hard beside it — the right tool for side dishes, sauces, blanching and seafood.

If what you want is high-heat searing rather than pot work, the Alfresco Sear Zone side burner AXESZ is the ceramic infrared alternative. If you boil in volume — low-country boils, crab pots, fryers — step up to the Versa Power cooker: the AIPGVP in this same Intelligent Professional trim, or the AXE-series AXEVP. Both run 400 to 65,000 BTU and take pots up to 100 quarts. Everything we stock in this category is in the burners collection, and this one sits in side burners $1,000–$2,000.

Fuel and utility requirements

Order the variant that matches the gas you already have. Natural gas ships as AIPGSB-2-NG and operates at 4.0" W.C. Propane ships as AIPGSB-2-LP, operates at 10.0" W.C., and includes the PROP-KIT-01 hose and dual in-line regulator with a QCC1 tank connection. The two are not field-convertible, so confirm your supply before ordering.

Electrically it needs 115 VAC on a GFCI-protected circuit. The 8 ft. cord ends in a standard three-prong grounding plug, so plan a weather-rated outlet inside the island within reach of the burner cabinet. Our natural gas and propane grills FAQs cover fuel selection in more detail.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much output does the Alfresco AIPGSB-2 have?

40,000 BTUH total with all burners on high, from two independently controlled burners.

Independent control is the point of a double burner: one side can hold a sauce at a simmer while the other runs a stockpot hard.

What is the countertop cutout size for the AIPGSB-2?

We do not publish one, because Alfresco has not released a spec sheet for this model.

Alfresco publishes a cutout sheet for the previous-generation AXESB-2 burner, but not for the AIPGSB-2, and we will not print a cutout number carried over from a different model. Call 843-212-7209 and we will get the current AIPGSB-2 drawing from Alfresco before your fabricator templates the counter.

What is the difference between the AIPGSB-2 and the AXESB-2?

The control package. Both are 40,000 BTU Alfresco double side burners in commercial stainless steel with heli-arc welded seams.

The AIPGSB-2 carries LumaTouch precision control and knob lighting matched to the AIPG Intelligent Professional grills. The AXESB-2 is the AXE-series burner with control knob accent lights, and it costs less. Match the burner to the grill you own.

Is AIPGSB-2 the same thing as AIPGSB-2C?

No. The AIPGSB-2 is the built-in unit; the AIPGSB-2C is the cart-mounted version of the same burner.

This listing is the built-in. If you need the cart-mount version, call us at 843-212-7209.

What are the AIPGSB-2 model numbers for propane and natural gas?

AIPGSB-2-LP is propane and AIPGSB-2-NG is natural gas.

Select the fuel on this page and the correct model ships. The units are not field-convertible between fuels.

Does the AIPGSB-2 need electricity?

Yes. It runs on 115 VAC, 50/60 Hz, and ships with an 8 ft. cord and a three-prong grounding plug.

Alfresco requires a GFCI-protected circuit, so plan a weather-rated outlet inside the island within reach of the burner cabinet.

What gas pressure does the AIPGSB-2 require?

Natural gas operates at 4.0" W.C. and propane at 10.0" W.C.

The natural gas connection is a 1/2" fitting; propane uses a 3/8" ODF inlet with a QCC1 tank connection.

Does the propane version come with a regulator?

Yes. LP models include the PROP-KIT-01 assembly.

That is a 36" hose with a 3/8" ODF fitting and a dual in-line regulator terminating in a QCC1 connection for a standard 20 lb. tank.

Can I convert the AIPGSB-2 from natural gas to propane later?

No. Order the fuel type you have.

The two configurations run at different manifold pressures and use different inlet fittings, so pick the right one before the island is plumbed.

How far does the AIPGSB-2 have to sit from wood framing?

Alfresco specifies 3" from the sides and 3" from the back to combustible construction.

If your island is framed in anything combustible, call 843-212-7209 before you build so we can review the enclosure with you.

Can the AIPGSB-2 go under a roof, pergola or overhang?

Only with proper ventilation. If the burner sits under overhead combustible construction, Alfresco requires a UL-710 or ULC-S646 approved heavy-duty vent hood.

A solid non-combustible roof with adequate clearance is a different case. Send us a photo of the structure and we will tell you what it needs.

Does a cover come with the AIPGSB-2?

Yes. The recessed top is fitted with a stainless steel cover, which is what keeps weather and debris out of the burner wells between cooks.

What is the AIPGSB-2 made of?

Commercial-grade 304 stainless steel with heli-arc welded seams.

Welded seams rather than fastened joints are what keep water out of the shell over years of outdoor exposure, which matters more on a coastal install than almost anything else on the spec sheet.

Will the AIPGSB-2 match my Alfresco grill?

It is designed to match the AIPG Intelligent Professional grills specifically.

The LumaTouch knob lighting and control styling line up with the AIPG-36 and AIPG-42. Next to an ALXE or AXE grill the AXE-series burner is the closer visual match.

Should I buy a double side burner or a searing burner?

Buy the double if you cook in pots and pans.

Two independent burners handle sauces, sides, blanching and seafood. If you want high-heat searing instead, look at the Sear Zone infrared side burner AXESZ. For high-volume boiling and frying, the Versa Power burner AXEVP is the heavier station.

Is the AIPGSB-2 available in colors other than stainless?

Alfresco publishes a range of powder-coat finishes across the AIPG line.

This listing is the stainless steel configuration. For a colour-matched burner, call 843-212-7209 for current availability, lead time and pricing.

What does the Alfresco warranty cover on this burner?

Two years on parts and labor, five years on gas valves and drip pans, and a limited lifetime warranty on stainless steel components.

Full terms are on our warranty information page.
