Alfresco Intelligent Professional 14" Cart-Mount Double Side Burner AIPGSB-2C

The AIPGSB-2C is the cart-mounted version of Alfresco's Intelligent Professional double side burner. It replaces a side shelf on an AIPG cart grill with a two-burner station putting out a combined 40,000 BTUH, and it carries the same LumaTouch™ precision control and knob lighting as the grill it bolts to — which is the entire reason to buy this rather than the AXE-series burner.

Alfresco is explicit that this one integrates with the Intelligent Series cart grill. Next to an AIPG panel the knobs, the lighting and the finish read as one appliance instead of two.

About the electrical requirement

Alfresco's care and use manual for this burner line specifies 115 VAC, 50/60 Hz with an 8 ft. cord and a three-prong grounding plug, on a GFCI-protected circuit. LumaTouch knob lighting needs mains power to run, so that is consistent.

What we will not do is state it as settled: Alfresco's manual covers the AIPGSB-2 and refers to cart models only generically, without naming the AIPGSB-2C separately — and the AXE-series cart burner uses a battery igniter rather than mains, so the cart variants do not always follow the built-in. Call 843-212-7209 before you run an outlet to the patio and we will confirm the requirement for the unit we would ship.

Which cart grills does it fit?

Alfresco specifies it for the Intelligent Series cart grills — the AIPG-36C and the AIPG-42C. In both cases a side shelf comes off and the burner assembly takes its place.

If your cart grill is an ALXE rather than an AIPG, this is the wrong burner — the AXESB-2C is the AXE-series equivalent, it costs less, and its controls match an ALXE panel.

AIPGSB-2C or AXESB-2C?

Both are 40,000 BTU Alfresco cart-mount double side burners in commercial stainless with heli-arc welded seams. The difference is the control package, and it should follow your grill.

The AIPGSB-2C carries LumaTouch precision control and knob lighting matched to the AIPG Intelligent Professional grills. The AXESB-2C has control knob accent lights matched to the AXE and ALXE lines. Buying the cheaper one to sit beside an AIPG grill saves money and then annoys you every evening, because the knobs light differently.

Cart-mount or built-in?

This is the cart burner. If it is going into a masonry or stainless island instead, you want the built-in AIPGSB-2, which drops into a countertop cutout. A cart burner has no island cutout — it bolts to the grill.

The safety point specific to carts: Alfresco states that portable, cart-mounted side burners must not be used under overhead combustible construction. A rolling grill parked under a wooden pergola is the case people get wrong.

Two pot burners, a sear burner, or a power burner?

This is a pot-and-pan station. Two independently controlled burners let a sauce hold at a simmer while a stockpot runs hard beside it — sides, sauces, blanching and seafood.

For high-heat searing instead, the Alfresco Sear Zone AXESZ is the ceramic infrared alternative. For volume boiling and frying, the Versa Power cooker AIPGVP in this same Intelligent trim runs 400 to 65,000 BTU and takes pots to 100 quarts. The category is in our burners collection, and this one sits in side burners over $2,000.

Note the cover part number: once the side burner is on the cart, the grill needs the wider -CSB cover rather than the plain cart cover. It is the most common ordering mistake on this product.

Why buy from Northwoods Grills

We are a family-owned outdoor kitchen retailer in Charleston, South Carolina. Alfresco is a line we sell every week, and this particular part has to match your grill series, your handedness and the right cover part number — so we would rather talk it through than process a return.

Free shipping, no credit card fees, and where Alfresco has not published a figure for this exact model we leave it out and go get it rather than guess.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the AIPGSB-2 and the AIPGSB-2C?

The C is the cart version. The AIPGSB-2 drops into an outdoor kitchen island cutout; the AIPGSB-2C bolts onto an AIPG cart grill in place of a side shelf.

Same burner, completely different installation. There is no island cutout for a cart burner.

How much output does the AIPGSB-2C have?

Up to 40,000 BTUH, from two independently controlled burners.

Independent control is the point of a double burner: one side holds a sauce at a simmer while the other runs a stockpot hard.

Which cart grills does the AIPGSB-2C fit?

Alfresco specifies it for the Intelligent Series cart grills, which are the AIPG-36C and the AIPG-42C.

If your cart grill is an ALXE rather than an AIPG, this is the wrong burner. Give us your grill model and serial number and we will confirm before anything is ordered.

What is the difference between the AIPGSB-2C and the AXESB-2C?

The control package, and it should follow the grill you own.

The AIPGSB-2C carries LumaTouch precision control and knob lighting matched to the AIPG grills. The AXESB-2C has control knob accent lights matched to the AXE and ALXE lines and costs less. Buying the cheaper one to sit beside an AIPG grill saves money once and then looks wrong every evening.

Do I lose a side shelf?

Yes. The burner assembly takes the place of a side shelf on the cart.

You gain two burners and lose one landing surface, which is worth thinking about if the grill only has one shelf left afterwards.

Does the AIPGSB-2C need an electrical outlet?

Almost certainly yes, but confirm before you run power.

Alfresco's care and use manual for this burner line specifies 115 VAC, 50/60 Hz with an 8 ft. cord and a three-prong plug on a GFCI-protected circuit, and LumaTouch knob lighting needs mains power to run. But the manual does not name the AIPGSB-2C separately, and the AXE-series cart burner uses a battery igniter instead of mains, so the cart variants do not always follow the built-in. Call 843-212-7209 and we will confirm.

What gas pressure and fitting does it need?

Natural gas at 4.0" W.C. through a 1/2" connection, propane at 10.0" W.C. through a 3/8" ODF inlet with a QCC1 tank connection.

Those are Alfresco's figures for this burner line. Confirm with us before the gas is sized if the run is long or shared with the grill.

Does the propane version come with a regulator?

Yes. LP models include the PROP-KIT-01 assembly: a 36" hose with a 3/8" ODF fitting and a dual in-line regulator ending in a QCC1 connection for a standard 20 lb. cylinder.

Can I convert it between natural gas and propane?

No. Order the fuel you have. AIPGSB-2C-NG is natural gas and AIPGSB-2C-LP is propane, and they run at different pressures through different fittings.

Which cover do I need once the burner is fitted?

The wider -CSB cover, not the plain cart cover. It is the most common ordering mistake on this product.

Depending on your grill: AGV-36CSB or AGV-42CSB.

Can I use it under a pergola or covered patio?

Not under overhead combustible construction. Alfresco states that portable, cart-mounted side burners must not be used under overhead combustible construction.

A rolling grill parked under a wooden pergola is the case people get wrong. Send us a photo of the structure and we will tell you what applies.

How far does it need to sit from wood framing?

Alfresco specifies 3" from the sides and 3" from the back to combustible construction for this burner.

Does a cover come with the burner itself?

Yes, the recessed top is fitted with a stainless steel cover, which keeps weather and debris out of the burner wells between cooks. That is separate from the vinyl cover for the whole grill.

What is the AIPGSB-2C made of?

Commercial-grade 304 stainless steel with heli-arc welded seams.

Welded seams rather than fastened joints are what keep water out of the shell over years outdoors, which matters more on a coastal install than almost anything else on the sheet.

Is it available in colours other than stainless?

Alfresco publishes a range of powder-coat finishes across the AIPG line, and the cart side burner is offered in them.

This listing is the stainless configuration. Call 843-212-7209 for colour availability, lead time and pricing.

Should I buy a double side burner or a power burner?

Buy the double side burner for pots and pans, the power burner for volume.

Two independent burners handle sauces, sides and blanching. For low-country boils, frying and stockpots up to 100 quarts, the Versa Power cooker AIPGVP in this same Intelligent trim runs 400 to 65,000 BTU.

What does the warranty cover?

Two years on parts and labor, five years on gas valves and drip pans, and a limited lifetime warranty on stainless steel components. Full terms are on our warranty information page.
