How much output does the AXESB-2 have?
40,000 BTUs total, from two 20,000 BTU brass burners that are controlled independently.
Brass burners hold up well to boil-overs and spills, which is what side burners actually endure.
What is it good for?
Boiling, simmering and sauteing. Alfresco pitches it as the power and control of a professional kitchen range, sized for sauces, pasta and side dishes while the grill is working.
Will wind blow the flames out?
The top is recessed, which shields both burners from wind. The same recess makes spills easier to wipe out.
Does a cover come with it?
Yes, a matching stainless steel cover is included, along with a stainless steel cooking grid.
Does it need electricity?
Yes. The ignition system requires 110 volts, and the control knob accent lights run on the same supply.
How is it built?
Commercial-grade stainless steel throughout, with heli-arc welded seams rather than fasteners or spot welds at the joints.

Will it match my Alfresco grill?

Is this a built-in unit?
Yes. The AXESB-2 drops into an outdoor kitchen island or cart cutout and is not a portable appliance.
Cutout dimensions are on the AXESB-2 spec sheet linked in the description above. Confirm them before your island is framed.
Should I get a double side burner or a single searing burner?
Get the double if you cook in pots. Two independent 20,000 BTU burners let you hold a sauce at a simmer while a stockpot runs hard next to it.
If what you actually want is high-heat searing rather than pot work, look at the Sear Zone infrared side burner instead.
