What grade of stainless steel is the Estate Power Burner made from?

#304 stainless steel. The Estate version is the one American Made Grills explicitly builds in #304, the same grade as the Estate grills.

That grade is the one that matters if the island sits anywhere near salt air. It is also rated weather resistant, so it stays in the island year round.

What is the total BTU output?

60,000 BTUs. The dual-ring stainless steel burner splits that into a 36,000 BTU outer ring and a 24,000 BTU inner ring.

A dual-ring burner is what separates a power burner from an ordinary side burner — the flame is wide rather than concentrated in one small circle.

Can I simmer on it, or is it only good wide open?

You can simmer. The rings fire independently, so the inner ring alone will hold a gentle simmer.

Open both rings and the same burner will take 40 quarts of water to a rolling boil, which is the range that makes one unit cover stock and seafood boils alike.

What are the cooking surface dimensions?

Up to 380 square inches of usable surface.

That is sized for cookware that would be unstable on a standard side burner — a full stock pot, a fry pot, a wok sitting flat.

Will it match my Estate grill?

Yes. Its front panel is cut to match the Estate architectural face, so in a full Estate island it reads as part of the run rather than a bolt-on.

Either. The ESTPB2 is available in both, and the fuel type is set by which configuration you order.

Confirm what is run to the island before you order, since this is not a choice you make at install time.

Is a cover or lid included?

A protective lid is included. It closes the burner down to a flush surface between uses.

Because the unit typically sits mid-counter, that closed lid is the difference between usable island space and an open burner well.

Is there any lighting on the controls?

Front-panel LED lighting is built in, so the control markings stay readable once the sun is down.

Does a combustible island need anything extra?

Yes. If your island is framed with combustible material, the burner needs the matching power burner liner rather than going straight into the framing.

What can I cook on it that I cannot cook on the grill?

Stock pots, seafood boils, wok cooking, deep frying and canning. These are the jobs that need a wide flame under heavy cookware rather than grates over a firebox.

Should I get this or the Estate double side burner?

Choose by cookware. The power burner is one dual-ring burner rated for 60,000 BTUs under a single large vessel; a double side burner gives you two conventional rings for pans.

If you mostly want somewhere to hold sauces and sides while the grill runs, look at the Estate double side burner instead.
