This is the Sunstone drop-in single side burner, model 1SSB, a compact 15,000 BTU burner in 304 stainless steel that drops into a 10" by 16-1/8" countertop opening. It is available in two configurations, natural gas as 1SSB-NG and liquid propane as 1SSB-LP, ordered as separate options rather than converted in the field.

The model is 1SSB. This is a drop-in product, so the cutout governs: 10 inches wide by 16-1/8 inches deep. The burner body itself is 11" by 17", which means it laps roughly half an inch over each side of the opening once dropped in, and that overlap is what carries it. Confirm both figures against Sunstone's current specification sheet before the counter is cut.

Fuel type is chosen when you order. The natural gas and liquid propane versions are separate configurations, so decide against your existing gas supply rather than planning to convert the burner later. At 4 inches overall height the unit needs very little clearance below the counter, but the gas connection still has to be run to the cutout position and the work should be done by a licensed gas fitter.

Who This Model Is Best For

This is for an island that already has a grill and needs one dedicated pot burner beside it, not a second cooking station. At 11 by 17 inches it fits into counter runs that a double burner would not, and the 4-inch depth means it can go over a drawer bay or a cabinet without a redesign. If you regularly cook two pans at once, a double burner is the better answer; if what you want is somewhere to put a stockpot, one 15,000 BTU burner in a small cutout is exactly the right amount of appliance.
