Frequently Asked Questions

What are the cutout dimensions for the TF-DD-36-A?

33 3/8" wide by 19 3/8" high. Build to that and the 36"W x 22"H door drops in and mounts flush against the island face.

Do the doors slam in the wind?

No. Both doors are soft-close, so they pull themselves shut at the end of the travel instead of banging against the frame. Magnetic latches hold them there.

What opening width is this size meant for?

Finished openings from 35" up to 39 7/8". Below that, the 36" frame will not have island face to land on; above it, you are into the wider doors in the series.

How thick is the door, front to back?

1.82". That is the entire intrusion into the island cavity, so shelving and gas lines behind the door lose almost nothing.

Where are the hinges?

There are none on the outside. The hingeless design puts the hardware behind the face, which is what gives this door a flat, uninterrupted front across all 36 inches.

Is the steel heavy enough for a permanent island build?

It is 304 stainless with double-walled panels, the grade used for outdoor kitchen hardware because it resists the weather rather than just being painted against it. TrueFlame designs, tests, and builds this door in the USA.

What goes behind a 36-inch double door?

Gas connections, power, and island storage. Two doors across a 36" span means you can reach either side of the cavity without crawling past a fixed post.
