How wide does the opening need to be for the TF-DD-39-A?
The cutout is 36 3/8" wide by 19 3/8" high. The door measures 39"W x 22"H overall, and the extra material on each side is what covers the rough edge of the opening.
Is this the right size for my island, or should I go up to a wider door?
This 39" door is specified for finished openings between 35" and 39 7/8". If your opening is 40" or more, you are past what this frame will cover.
What is the difference between this and the 36-inch door?
Three inches of frame and three inches of cutout width; the 36" version takes a 33 3/8" cutout against this one's 36 3/8". Both share the same 19 3/8" cutout height, the same 1.82" depth, and the same latch and soft-close hardware.
Does it come apart from the frame for installation?
The doors and frame are a single unit that drops into the cutout and mounts flush. At 1.82" deep it sits almost entirely in the plane of the island face.
How do the doors close?
Soft-close on both leaves, with magnetic latches to keep them shut afterward. There is no exposed hinge hardware on the front.
