7 Primo Grill Accessories You Should Always Use
The useful Primo accessories are the ones that match your model and the meals you cook. This updated guide covers seven categories to consider; you do not need every category, and some package contents may already cover your needs.
Updated October 9, 2026. Check exact fit using the Primo accessory compatibility guide.
1. Heat Deflector Plates and Supporting Racks
For smoking and roasting, the ceramic plates provide a barrier and the racks support them. Match both to the cooker. For an Oval XL, compare PG00324 plates and PG00333 racks. These Primo parts are not universal deflectors for other grill brands.

2. Cast Iron Firebox Divider
The divider partitions the charcoal area, supporting smaller cooks and direct/indirect arrangements. Select Junior, Large, XL, or XXL by exact model. The sides share the same dome and airflow system, so they are not independent ovens.
3. Baking Stones
A stone adds a surface for pizza and baking. The 13-inch glazed stone lists Junior, Large, XL, and Round compatibility. The 16-inch glazed stone lists Large, XL, and Round. Follow the recommended setup and clearance rather than assuming the stone replaces every other component.
4. Temperature-Checking Tools
An instant-read thermometer supports spot checks. A remote wireless thermometer is designed for monitoring. Neither should be confused with an automatic airflow controller. Choose the tool around the way you cook and its operating instructions.
5. Extension Racks and Rib Racks
A matched extension rack adds a second tier. The Large extension rack and XL extension rack have separate listings. For ribs, the five-slot rack lists Junior, Large, XL, and Round; the nine-slot rack is an XL listing. Allow space around food and beneath the dome.

6. Cast Iron Cooking Surfaces
A model-specific griddle adds a flat cooking surface for foods that need one. The Oval XL griddle and Junior griddle are different parts. A searing grate is another optional surface; choose based on your cooking preferences rather than assuming it is essential for every owner.
7. A Cover That Fits the Whole Setup
Match the grill and its stand, cart, table, or built-in arrangement. The same cooker can require different covers in different supports. Use the Primo cover-fit guide to identify the listing for your setup.
What Should You Buy First?
For an owner who wants to smoke, begin with the indirect components. For pizza, check baking equipment. For a first purchase, confirm what the package already includes and leave room in the budget for fuel, lighting supplies, and useful tools.
