What size opening does the A-TRHD drop into?

17-7/8 inches wide by 24-3/8 inches high. The unit itself is 20 inches wide, 27 inches high and 16-1/8 inches deep.

Can I put my own trash bin inside it?

Yes, up to 22-1/2 inches high by 15 inches wide by 12 inches deep.

Measure the bin you already own against those maximums before you assume it will drop in.

Does it come with a way to hold a bag without a bin?

An adjustable trash ring is included, so a large loose bag hangs correctly with no bin at all.

What is the punch-out on the top for?

It is an optional square knockout that makes the drawer trash-chute ready, so scraps can be pushed straight through a countertop opening.

Leave it intact if you are not adding a chute; punch it once you are sure of the counter layout.

Does the drawer slam?

No. The track is soft-close, so it pulls the drawer firmly shut every time rather than bouncing off the frame.

Is the interior box protected from weather?

The frame, front panel and drawer tray are 304 stainless, and the enclosed trash drawer box is 20 gauge 201 stainless that is not exposed to the elements.

The frame and front panel are 16 gauge 304, with a chrome-plated zinc alloy handle.

How heavy is the unit?

40 pounds.

Will it look right beside a non-Sunstone grill?

The #4 horizontal light brushed finish and large polished chrome handle are built to blend with components from most other BBQ brands.

You can compare it against the roll-out and pull-out trash bins if you would rather have a pull-out than a drawer.
