Frequently Asked Questions
Can this replace a dedicated island vent?
Yes. Sunstone states this door can be used in place of an outdoor kitchen island vent, giving airflow and gas ventilation while still opening for access to the compartment.
One opening does two jobs, which saves you cutting a separate vent hole elsewhere in the island.
What is the cutout, and how far does the door stick out?
Cut 9-1/4 inches square. The finished door measures 12 by 12 inches and projects just 1-5/8 inches deep.
How does it differ from the non-vented C-SD12?
The vents are the only functional difference — the solid C-SD12 shares the same 9-1/4 inch cutout and the same flush Classic Series frame.
Use the vented one where combustion air or gas venting matters and the solid one where you want the compartment closed off.
Which way does it open?
Left or right swing, set at installation.
Does it come with a lock?
It has a turn latch as standard, which the description says can optionally be swapped for a locking latch to keep internal components secure.
How heavy is it to handle during install?
Four pounds. It ships in a 14 by 14 by 4 inch carton at 6 pounds.
One person can hold it in the opening and fasten through the pre-drilled frame holes.
What gauge stainless is the door?
Solid 16 gauge 304 stainless with a #4 light brushed finish and a polished handle. Top and bottom magnets pull it shut.
Will it reach the bottom vent on a ceramic grill?
That is one of the uses Sunstone calls out — the added vents give air circulation while the door gives you clear access to the ceramic grill's bottom vent.
Let customers speak for us
I absolutely love my Coyote gas grill! The quality is excellent, it looks beautiful, and I’m very happy with my purchase.
I also want to give a special thank you to Ryan at Northwoods Grills. He was incredibly helpful from the very beginning. Before my grill even arrived, he took the time to help me with measurements and answered all of my questions to make sure everything would fit properly. He was always very attentive, patient, friendly, and easy to communicate with. His customer service really made a difference and made the whole experience so much easier for me.
It’s not often that you receive this level of personal attention and customer service. I truly appreciate all of Ryan’s help and would absolutely recommend Northwoods Grills. Great product and outstanding customer service!

Best pricing available for the product (checked all other on line retailers), and Ryan provided excellent responsiveness during the sales process. Loved dealing directly with the owner vs a sales person.
Delivery was completed within a week of the order and Ryan stayed in touch with consistent follow-up to ensure the products met my expectations.
Will recommend to friends / others looking for a high-end built in grill and matching cabinets.
