Every TrueFlame vent hood mounts flat against the wall unless something is put behind it, and this 4-inch spacer bracket is the part that moves the 36-inch TF-VH36-2 canopy out from that surface. This is the shallower of the two brackets made for the 36-inch hood, and 4 inches is usually the right number when the hood is going over a tiled backsplash or a thin stone veneer rather than a deep masonry face. The TF-VH36-2 is the narrowest and lightest canopy in the TF-VH range, so a modest stand-off keeps it visually tight to the wall while still clearing the finish. If the material behind the hood is thicker than that, order the 8-inch instead of trying to pack out a 4-inch bracket.
