Ceiling heights over an outdoor kitchen are rarely a round number, which is what this part is for. The TrueFlame telescopic duct cover, model TF-VH36-DCT, extends from 22 inches to 43 inches and conceals the ducting above the 36-inch TF-VH36-2 vent hood. Because it adjusts on site, you do not have to know the exact run before ordering, only that it falls somewhere inside that range.
Key Features
- Adjusts 22" to 43" - one part spans a 21-inch band of ceiling heights, set during installation rather than specified beforehand.
- Made for the TF-VH36-2 - the 36-inch hood only. TrueFlame lists a separate telescopic cover in the same length range for the larger hoods.
- Conceals the top duct - closes the view between the top of the canopy and the ceiling or soffit for a finished, built-in look.
- #304 stainless steel - weather-resistant and easy to clean, in the grade TrueFlame uses across its hood line.

Model and Installation Information
The hood this belongs to is the TF-VH36-2, and the cover's own model number is TF-VH36-DCT. Confirm the hood designation before ordering, because the telescopic cover for the TF-VH42-3 through TF-VH72-3 hoods is a different part despite covering the same 22-inch to 43-inch range. No island cutout is involved. Measure from the top of the hood to the finished ceiling or soffit and check the figure falls inside the range; under 22 inches, the fixed 12" duct cover is the part to look at. Duct routing and clearances follow TrueFlame's installation manual.
Who This Model Is Best For
This is for a 36-inch TrueFlame hood under a normal patio ceiling, roughly two to three and a half feet above the canopy, where the exact height is not settled until the structure is up. It removes the need to measure precisely before ordering, which is genuinely useful when the hood is going in before the soffit is finished.
Buying From Northwoods Grills
Northwoods Grills is a family-owned retailer, and on hood parts we would much rather check a model number for you than process a return. Call 843-212-7209 and we will confirm the hood model, the fitment and the ventilation parts you still need before the order goes in. Shipping is free and we never add a credit card fee.

Frequently Asked Questions
How far does this duct cover extend?
From 22 inches to 43 inches. It telescopes within that range, so one part covers a span of ceiling heights instead of forcing you to measure exactly before ordering.
Which hood is it built for?
The TF-VH36-2. There is a separate telescopic cover in the same 22-to-43-inch range for the TF-VH42-3 through TF-VH72-3 hoods, so match the cover to your hood's model designation rather than to the length you need.
Should I get this or the fixed 12-inch cover?
Compare the distance from the top of your hood to the ceiling. Under the telescopic range, the 12-inch duct cover is the simpler piece; from 22 inches up, this is the one that will reach.
Does this close the gap at the wall behind the hood?
No, that is a separate part. Duct cover fillers for TF-VH36-2 setups come in half-inch, 4-inch and 8-inch projections and are what closes the joint where the cover meets the wall.

Best pricing available for the product (checked all other on line retailers), and Ryan provided excellent responsiveness during the sales process. Loved dealing directly with the owner vs a sales person.
Delivery was completed within a week of the order and Ryan stayed in touch with consistent follow-up to ensure the products met my expectations.
Will recommend to friends / others looking for a high-end built in grill and matching cabinets.
