What does this filler actually do?
It closes the gap between the duct cover and the wall behind it. The piece adds a slim half-inch projection so the duct cover meets the wall cleanly instead of leaving an open seam.
It is the trim step at the end of a vent hood installation, not a functional part of the ducting.
Which hoods and duct covers does TF-DCF-SPT work with?
TrueFlame duct cover setups for the TF-VH36-2 and the TF-VH4274-DC, where a half-inch gap needs to be filled between the cover and the wall. Check the model designation on your hood and duct cover before ordering.
How do I know whether I need the half-inch, the 4-inch or the 8-inch filler?
By the size of the gap your installation leaves. This one is the slimmest of the three, so it is the choice when the duct cover almost touches the wall. For a wider space, the 4-inch filler or the 8-inch filler covers the same joint with a deeper projection.
Is it going to hold up outdoors?
It is stainless steel, the same construction logic as the hood and duct cover it trims out, so it lives in the same weather they do.
Does it match the finish of my hood?
Yes, it is made to match the stainless finish of the TrueFlame vent hood and duct cover, which is the point of using the matching filler rather than a generic trim strip.
