Do I need to build an island for the ALXE-56C?

No. This is the freestanding deluxe cart version, so it rolls into place on four casters and needs no masonry work.

If you are building an island anyway, the 56" built-in version is the same appliance in a drop-in format.

Why is a 56" grill listed with the same 770 sq. in. as the 42"?

Because the extra width goes to the side burner, not to the grilling surface. The grill section carries the same 37.25" x 19" cooking grid as the 42" model.

You are buying a burner you can put a pot on, not more grate space. If you want the width spent on grilling instead, look at the All Grill models.

What can I do with the side burner?

It is a dual integrated 20,000 BTU burner with a recessed, sealed top, which means sauces, sides, boils and searing in cast iron happen at the grill instead of back in the kitchen.

How fast does the optional Sear Zone burner get hot?

It reaches 1500°F in four minutes. It is an option on this grill rather than standard equipment, and Alfresco builds the sear-equipped cart as the ALXE-56SZC.

Order the SZC model up front if you want it. It is not a burner you can add to an ALXE-56C later.

How much cooking surface do I get?

770 sq. in. on the main cooking surface, heated by three 18-SR stainless steel Accufire burners rated at 82,500 BTUs combined.

A 3-position adjustable warming rack sits above that for holding finished food, and stows up out of the way when you are rotissing.

Is there a rotisserie on the cart model?

Yes. The Mega-Drive rotisserie system is integrated and includes an 18,500 BTU rear infrared burner, the same setup Alfresco uses on its built-in heads.

The chain-driven spit carries up to 120 lbs, so a full turkey or a large roast is well within range.

Can I smoke on it?

Yes. The Signature Taste integrated smoking system runs on its own 5,000 BTU burner with a sealed drawer for wood chunks, so you can smoke, roast, sear and grill on one appliance.

Because the smoker burner is separate from the main burners, you can run low smoke without lighting the grill surface.

What storage does the deluxe cart have?

Two single access doors flanking a double storage drawer, plus stainless side shelves on either end.

That is where the propane tank, covers and tools live, and the drawers keep utensils out of the weather.

Does the cart grill need an outlet?

Yes. Ignition is push-button with a sealed 110V AC power source, and the dual halogen work lights and LED-illuminated knobs draw from the same supply.

Freestanding does not mean cordless here. Site the cart near an exterior outlet.

What are the cooking grates made of?

Electro-polished stainless steel. The polished surface releases food more easily and wipes down faster than a rough casting.

Do the controls get hot?

The SafeTouch air-cooled control panel is designed to keep the front of the grill cool while the burners are running.

Which fuel can I order it in?

Liquid propane or natural gas. The configuration is fixed at the factory, so order the one that matches your supply.

What can I add to it later?

Alfresco lists a solid fuel insert, a commercial griddle and an indirect roasting pod as optional additions.

The solid fuel insert lets you run wood or charcoal in a gas grill, and the roasting pod turns the hood into a convection oven.

What is the cart built from?

Commercial-grade 304 stainless steel with hand-welded seams, chosen for durability and heat retention outdoors.
