A wye is a Y-shaped duct fitting, and this one is TrueFlame's, listed for the four larger outdoor vent hoods: the TF-VH42-3, TF-VH48-3, TF-VH60-3 and TF-VH72-3. Model TF-VH-3-WDF is a ductwork component rather than a cosmetic one, used where the run above the hood has to split or join rather than travel straight up. Whether an installation needs one is a question for whoever is designing the duct route.
Key Features
- Y-shaped duct fitting - for the duct run coming off the vent hood, sold by TrueFlame as a matched hood accessory rather than as a generic HVAC part.
- Listed for four hoods - TF-VH42-3, TF-VH48-3, TF-VH60-3 and TF-VH72-3. TrueFlame's 36-inch hood is not on the list.
- Ordered separately - like the spacer brackets, duct covers and fillers, it does not ship with the hood.

Model and Installation Information
The model is TF-VH-3-WDF. Confirm that one of the four listed codes appears on your hood before ordering, since the 36-inch TF-VH36-2 is excluded. No island cutout is involved: this part lives in the duct run, not the counter. Whether your installation calls for a wye at all depends on how the ductwork above the hood is routed, which the hood model alone does not settle, so have the installer or mechanical contractor confirm it against TrueFlame's installation manual and local code before it is ordered.
Who This Model Is Best For
This is a part for an installation with a non-trivial duct route above a large hood, where the run has to branch rather than rise straight to the roof or through a wall. Most straightforward installations never need one. If your hood is going up with a simple vertical duct, this is not the accessory to add, and a duct cover or spacer bracket probably is.
Buying From Northwoods Grills
Northwoods Grills is a family-owned retailer, and on hood parts we would much rather check a model number for you than process a return. Call 843-212-7209 and we will confirm the hood model, the fitment and the ventilation parts you still need before the order goes in. Shipping is free and we never add a credit card fee.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a wye duct fitting?
It is a Y-shaped fitting for the duct run coming off a vent hood. TrueFlame sells it as a hood accessory matched to specific hoods rather than as a generic duct part.
Which hoods is it listed for?
The TF-VH42-3, TF-VH48-3, TF-VH60-3 and TF-VH72-3. Confirm which of those codes appears on your hood before ordering, and note that TrueFlame's 36" hood is not on the list. The rest of the range is in the TrueFlame collection.
How do I know whether my installation needs one?
That depends on how the ductwork above the hood is routed, which the hood model by itself does not settle. Have whoever is running the duct confirm the fittings required before you order this one.
Will it work with a hood from another brand?
Nothing in this listing covers other brands. It is specified for the four TrueFlame hoods above, so treat it as a TrueFlame part and match it to one of those models.

Best pricing available for the product (checked all other on line retailers), and Ryan provided excellent responsiveness during the sales process. Loved dealing directly with the owner vs a sales person.
Delivery was completed within a week of the order and Ryan stayed in touch with consistent follow-up to ensure the products met my expectations.
Will recommend to friends / others looking for a high-end built in grill and matching cabinets.
