How many drawers is this, and what is it sized to hold?
Two. The DR2-17 is a double storage drawer built for grilling tools, utensils, towels, cookware and the small items that otherwise end up on the counter.
Each drawer runs on its own slides, so you can keep tools in one and linens in the other without digging through a single deep box.
What are the cutout dimensions?
Summerset publishes the cutout as a range: 15 1/4" to 15 5/8" wide, 19 1/4" to 19 1/2" high, and 20 1/2" to 20 3/4" deep.
Because it is a range rather than a single figure, check the cutout printed for your specific unit before you frame the opening.
What grade of stainless is used?
Commercial-grade #304 stainless steel throughout. That is the grade Summerset uses for outdoor exposure, and it resists corrosion in weather that would mark lower grades.
Do the drawers soft-close?
Yes. Both drawers ride on heavy-duty full-extension ball-bearing slides with a soft-close mechanism, so they pull all the way out and ease shut on their own.
Full extension matters on a 20"-deep drawer, since it lets you see the back of the box instead of reaching blind.
What does flush mount mean for the install?
The drawer face sits flush against the island rather than standing proud of it. The result is a continuous surface across a run of components.
It also means the opening has to be square and sized correctly, since there is no oversized trim ring to hide a rough cut.
Is DR2-17 the same thing as SSDR2-17?
Yes. Summerset lists this unit under both model designations, so either code on a spec sheet or invoice refers to this double drawer.
Should I get the double or a single drawer?
Pick the double if you want separated storage in one 17" bay and your cutout can take the 19 1/4" to 19 1/2" height. A single drawer needs a much shorter opening and leaves the space below it free for something else.
The 17" single drawer DR1-17 is the direct one-drawer equivalent in the same width.
