The Coyote CL-Series 36" C3CL36 at $2,599 is the best built-in grill under $3,000 we sell: 304 stainless steel, four burners, the rotisserie kit included, and a 32½-inch cutout that fits more islands than most 36-inch grills. If you want the most grill for the least money, the TrueFlame E Series 32" TFE32 at $1,699 gives you four burners at 56,000 BTU in 304 stainless. At the top of the budget, the Coyote CL-Series 42" C3CL42 at $2,899 lists five burners and 100,000 BTU. What you give up under $3,000 is mostly burner construction, warranty and — with one exception — American manufacture. It is a real trade, and this page says plainly what it costs you.

All models below are currently orderable and priced at or under $3,000 as verified on 30 August 2026. We do not print a cooking-area column: some manufacturers quote total area including warming racks and others quote the main grate only, so those figures are not comparable across brands. Where a product title and our specification data disagree on a number, we omit the figure rather than pick a side.

Note on the Broilmaster 26": the price starts at $1,679 and varies by configuration up to $2,577, so check which build you are ordering before you compare it to anything else on this list. Note on the Summerset Sizzler 32": our product title and our specification data disagree on the stainless grade, so we have left the cell blank rather than publish a grade we cannot stand behind. Call 843-212-7209 and we will read you the current manufacturer spec sheet.
The C3CL36 is the most complete grill under $3,000. It is 304 stainless, it runs four burners rather than three, Coyote includes the rotisserie kit, and its 32½-inch cutout is narrower than most 36-inch grills — which means it fits islands the AOG T-Series 36 and its 36¾-inch opening cannot. Nothing else at this price bundles a genuine 36-inch firebox, four zones and a rotisserie. The Coyote built-in grills FAQs cover how the CL-Series differs from Coyote's SL-Series.
At $1,699 the TFE32 gives you four burners at 56,000 BTU in 304 stainless with a 30.75-inch cutout. The TrueFlame TF32 lists the same four burners and the same 56,000 BTU for $2,999 — a $1,300 difference within the same brand and the same nominal size. If you are on a tight budget the E Series is the smarter buy, and the TrueFlame built-in grills FAQs explain what separates the two lines. We make no US-manufacture claim for TrueFlame.
The C3CL42 lists five burners and 100,000 BTU in 304 stainless with the rotisserie kit included. It needs a 39½-inch cutout, so it only makes sense if your island is already drawn for a 42-inch grill. If it is, this is the most grill anyone sells under $3,000.
The C3C30 needs only a 25-inch cutout — the narrowest opening of any Coyote here — while measuring 28 inches across the body. That gap between overall width and cutout width is exactly the trap our cutout finder exists to explain. It is 304 stainless at $1,549, which is unusual at this price.
The C3CH36 is a 304 stainless built-in charcoal grill with an adjustable charcoal tray and a 32½-inch cutout. If your island has no gas line and you do not want to add one, this solves the problem outright. The Sunstone 28" SUNCHSZ28 at $2,735 is the alternative, though we do not yet hold verified cutout data for it.
The Elevate 30 is a built-in pellet grill with Wi-Fi control, priced from $2,068 with the price varying by configuration. Memphis is designed, engineered and tested in the USA. It needs a 16.75-inch-tall cutout because the hopper sits below the counter — far taller than the 8 to 11 inches most gas grills here need, so check that before anything else. See the pellet grills FAQs.
Bonfire is the most consistent value brand in this band. The Whistler 4 32" at $2,099 lists four burners at 72,000 BTU in 304 stainless; the Black Stainless version is $2,259 for the same firebox in a darker finish; and the Whistler 500 Prime Black 42" at $2,919 lists five burners at 87,000 BTU. All three have verified cutout width, height and depth in our data, which is more than several more expensive brands can say. We make no US-manufacture claim for Bonfire. See the Bonfire built-in grills FAQs.
Summerset's Sizzler and Sizzler Pro lines split on stainless grade. The Sizzler 40 SZR40 at $2,499 and the Sizzler Pro 32 at $2,799 are both 443 stainless. The Sizzler 25 at $1,699 is 304. On the Sizzler 32 our title and spec data conflict, so we do not print a grade. In coastal Charleston that distinction matters, and it is worth asking about before you order. The Summerset built-in grills FAQs are a good starting point.
RCS gives you the most burners per dollar and the least verified data. The RCS Classic 32 at $1,399 lists four burners and 48,000 BTU; the 40" Premier RJCA at $2,639 lists five burners and 72,000 BTU. But we hold no verified cutout for the Classic 32, the 26" Premier or the 32" Premier RJC32A, and no verified stainless grade on three of the four. That is a reason to call before ordering, not a reason to rule them out. See the RCS built-in grills FAQs.
Artisan is the only brand under $3,000 here with a supportable US-build claim. The American Eagle 26" at $2,105 and the American Eagle 36" at $2,959 are built by Artisan's parent company, Superior Equipment Solutions, in City of Industry, California. Both are 304 stainless. We hold no verified cutout for the 36, which is the main practical caution. See the Artisan built-in grills FAQs.
Sunstone's Ruby line is the sear-focused option. The Ruby 30 RUBY3B at $2,423 lists three burners at 45,000 BTU and the Ruby 36 RUBY4B at $2,860 lists four at 60,000, both in 304 stainless. Neither has a verified cutout depth in our data, so measure your island's depth and confirm against Sunstone's installation manual. See the Sunstone built-in grills FAQs.
American manufacture, in almost every case. The American Made Grills and American Outdoor Grills built-ins start above this budget, and Alfresco starts well above it. Artisan is the exception. If US manufacture is a requirement for you, your entry point is roughly $3,100 — see our guide to built-in grills under $5,000.
U-tube and cast burner construction. The heavier U-tube burner designs used on the American Made Grills Atlas, Alturi and Estate lines do not appear at this price. Tube burners work; they typically do not last as long and are more prone to uneven heat across the grate as they age.
Warranty length. This is the biggest hidden difference between a $2,000 grill and a $4,500 one, and it is the one buyers check least. We do not print warranty terms here because we will not paraphrase a manufacturer's warranty document. Ask us for the current warranty PDF on any model on this page before you buy — it costs nothing and it is often the deciding factor.
Complete specification data. Eight models on this page are missing a verified cutout width in our catalogue and several are missing a stainless grade. Better-documented brands make replacement and island planning much easier three years from now.
Included extras. Coyote includes the rotisserie kit on the CL-Series. Most other brands at this price sell it separately, and insulating liners and covers are always separate.
The cutout, before anything else. Cutout widths on this page run from 23.25 inches to 40.56 inches. Two grills both called "32 inch" can need openings an inch and a half apart. Work from your island opening: our cutout finder sorts every built-in we sell by the opening it requires.
Stainless grade over BTU. A 304 stainless firebox at 48,000 BTU will outlast a 443 one at 72,000 in a coastal climate. Buy the grade first and the output second.
The liner, if your island is combustible. A liner is required for combustible island construction and is model-specific, not size-specific. See the insulating grill liners FAQs and the grill liners collection — on a budget grill a liner can be a meaningful fraction of the purchase price, so factor it in now.
A cover from day one. Covers are model-specific and cheap relative to the grill; see the grill covers collection and the grill covers FAQs.
Fuel is fixed at purchase on most of these lines — see the natural gas and propane grills FAQs. And clearances, ventilation and gas line sizing follow the manufacturer's installation manual, your local code and a licensed professional. We will not invent a code requirement for you.
Yes, if you choose 304 stainless and a brand with verified cutout data. The Coyote CL-Series 36 and TrueFlame TFE32 are both sound buys.
The Coyote CL-Series 36" C3CL36 at $2,599. Our best 36-inch built-in grills guide compares all twenty models at that size.
Usually configuration. The Broilmaster 26" ranges from $1,679 to $2,577 depending on how it is specified, and the Memphis Elevate 30 varies too. Check the exact build before comparing prices.
If US manufacture, U-tube burners or a longer warranty matter to you, yes. If they do not, the money is better spent on a liner, a cover and proper installation.
Buy the Coyote CL-Series 36" C3CL36 at $2,599 if you want the best-rounded grill under $3,000 and your island can take a 32½-inch opening. Buy the TrueFlame E Series 32" TFE32 at $1,699 if you want the most capable grill for the least money. Buy the Coyote CL-Series 42" C3CL42 at $2,899 if you already have a 42-inch opening. And measure the cutout before you decide anything else.
